Below please find some common mistakes that inspectors find when inspecting cars for the FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby World Championship Race.

Stock Cars
1. Bolts in rear stabilizer may be slot headed or philips headed bolts.
2. The steering cable should be wrapped correctly around the steering shaft. Please refer to figure 5.27 in the Stock Car Plans.
3. Make sure the washer stack on bolts is correct.
4. The bolts on the brake pad CANNOT be cut.
5. The brake pad bolts CANNOT be imbeded into the floorboard. No holes may be drilled into the floorboard to recess the brake pad bolts.
6. Weight combinations must NOT exceed 12" in length. 
7. Shell attachment holes may not be enlarged.

Super Stock
1. Bolts in rear angle iron may be slot headed or philips headed bolts.
2. The steering cable should be wrapped correctly around the steering shaft. Please refer to figure 5.27 in the Stock Car Plans.
3. Make sure the washer stack on bolts is correct.
4. The bolts on the brake pad CANNOT be cut.
5. The brake pad bolts CANNOT be imbeded into the floorboard. No holes may be drilled into the floorboard to recess the brake pad bolts.
6. Weight combinations must NOT exceed 12" in length. 
7. Shell attachment holes may not be enlarged.
8. Airfoils must be cut perpendicular to axle. Thery CANNOT be cut at an angle.

Masters Car
1. The weight bolt under the racers head MUST be cut.
2. The hatch hinge bolts on the inside of the car MUST be cut.
3. The hatch opening must be 7" wide to accomodate the 7" foam protection. It may be necessary to trim the hatch to meet the 7” width measurement

All Divisions
1. Shoes MUST have some type of sole.
2. Socks cannot be used as a shoe.
3. Tape is not allowed to be used to form a sole.
